{ Hey guys, I know I said I would have this forum up a month ago but a lot of things happened in a very short amount of time and I’ve only just now had a moment to myself.

So anyways, as you can probably guess, this forum is based on the hit series Avatar- The last Airbender (for those of you who don’t know the series, here is a Wiki link you can use to get a basic idea of what the stories about: http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Avatar_Wiki_Avatar_Portal . Click on the CHAPERS section to get a sense of what the story is like and CHARACTERS to see the characters and so on…).

In the timeline, this story takes place 50 years after Sozin’s Comet (150 ASC) that centers around the next generation of characters. This means that there is no longer a war against the Fire Nation, instead all four nations have banded together to face a new threat; a threat far greater than any the world had ever seen before. This also means that you will be able to choose from any of the four nations to play as: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, or even just as a normal human with exceptional skills. Whatever you choose, I would like to know who your characters are and would like for you to create a character profile for the characters you wish to play as (I you wish to have a multitude of characters such as an army and such, then just put a character profile for the main characters).

The reason I ask for character Profiles is to make sure that your characters fit in with the storyline and don’t conflict with each other’s ideas.

Some things you should know:
1) Although this is the Avatar series, not of you can choose to be the avatar. There can only be one and it wouldn’t be fair if a person’s main character had all the power
2) You may chose to have your character(s) be a descendent of the original Avatar- The last Airbender cast, but you will need to notify me with a PM before you post this in your character profile (the reason for this is because some characters have already been taken by me or possibly by your fellow Posters
3) If you wan to have your character be an airbender, then you will have to talk to me about it because technically there aren’t supposed to be any in existence apart from possible decadence of Aang
4) Although you can only choose from the four main elements, each has its own secondary elements that your character could use. For example, Earthbenders can manipulate metal to an extent) and Firebenders can create lightning. (And if you are unsure if the secondary element you choose fits with your character’s element, let me know since there is some ‘grey area’ that borderlines between elements).
5) It would be ideal if everyone wasn’t from the same nation, that way we could have some verity
6) Most of all be creative. Use the rules and your knowledge of the series (if any) to make something original, something exciting that would be fun to see in the world of Avatar. Just try to have some fun^^!
So, here’s the format for the character profiles; once I have everyone who wishes to participate, I will type up the introduction and the forum will begin^^:

-----(Required)-----

Name:

Nationality/Birth Location: (Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, Air Temples, or Other*) (Be careful with the ‘Other’ option. And just because someone was bon in the Earth Kingdom doesn’t mean that they’re an Earthbender, some goes for all other Nationalities) (Also, you may make up names for locations inside the nationalities, but please refrain from cliché or other titles like “Mount Wannahockalugi”).

-----(Optional)-----

Age:

Weight:

Bending Abilities: (Water, Earth, Fire, Air, or None)

Physical Description:

History/Background Info:

Personality:

Special skills: (other than bending)

Goals:

-----

(You may choose to reveal as much as you want about your characters, just be sure to follow the guidelines and ask me if you have any questions through a PM). }

OK, ready…… GO!

Name: Airan

Birth Location: Lake Gwahui (Earth Kingdom)

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Background Info: Airan is the current General of the South Western outpost and leader of the N-A-F unit.

Physical Description/Personality: With short, curly brown hair and freckles on the tip of his nose, this blue-eyed boy wonder wouldn’t seem to be very dangerous on the battlefield, but he didn’t receive the rank of general for his looks. Though he is kind and empathetic to most that he meets, Airan will stop at nothing to keep the piece, by force if necessary. Normally he wears a simple poncho and booted both made of turtlecow hide, but on the battle field he wears a thick layer of spiked battle armor too heavy for most grown men (how does he do it Neutral ?).

Name: Rai

Name: Lee

Gender: Male

Age: 15

Weight: 175 lbs

Nationality: Fire Nation

Physical Description: With skin darkly tanned as tree bark, Lee stands out against the pasty white of his fellow brothers in arms. He has dark brown hair, so dark that it almost appears black while tied up in a warrior’s wolftail like his father before him and his grandfather before him. In most respects Lee is much like his father, all except for the eyes, golden bronze like his mother’s.

Personality: With a quirky sense of humor and an inquisitive mind, Lee is always the most lively of the bunch (with a wise-crack here and a sarcastic remark there, here a jab, there a jab, everywhere a “haha”). But when he’s not joking around or blowing something up, Lee can be a companionate and understanding person. He can understand someone else’s pain, but he will very rarely let his emotions get the better of him, instead using his head to try and work out a situation (even if he seems totally lost, he’ll eventually come up with something).

Special skills: Along with {spoiler} he also has a keen mind for inventing. Give him some rope, sheets of metal along with other assortments of objects and he’ll give you give you seemingly limitless scenarios and possibilities in which to use them. In a dire time of need, you can count on Lee to come up with some wacky contraption to get them outa there (now getting out in one piece… that’s another story entirely).

Name: The N-A-F

Gender: Male/Female

Age: 16-35

Nationality: Earth Kingdom

Appearance: Appart from the obvious differences such as height, weight, and gender, every N-A-F soldier looks the same. Each soldier is fitted in a suit made of organic material that covers every inch of skin (remaining rigged, apart from the joints, until the battle’s initial strike), each is bears the same emblem upon their right shoulder, and eachwear a translucent facemask that allows them to see out while completely covering their faces (made from different materials than their suits).

Personality: Because their face is always hidden when in uniform and the fact that all of them rarely speak, it is very difficult to tell any of the soldiers apart. Each wear specially trained to work with one another on a level that required little speech and which further concealed their identities. Little is known about them apart from their abilities as {spoilers} and their loyalty.

History: An elite group of specialized soldiers hand-picked by General Airan himself to serve as his own personally army. Composed of no more than 23 men and women, the N-A-F was a project brought on to compensate for {spoilers} to aid in the new war. Nameless faces shrouded in mystery, each soldier have their own unique strength that serves in the overall unit. They form ranks in diamond shape of 4X4 in the heat of battle with an additional commander on each side of the diamond and one commander in the middle. And if need be, the large group can split into five groups of 2X2 (including the commanders). This proves very effective, yet that means that only 20 N-A-F soldiers are being used in each scenario…

Name: Ibaki (E-ba-key) (normal human- Salemen and thief, master of disguise)

Gender: Male

Age: 31

Nationality: Earth Kingdome

Bending Abilities: None

Physical Description: When not in a disguise, Ibaki wears an old, dark green frayed overcoat that he wears draped around him like a cape (if a cape had over 100 pockets). He wears a generic hat as frayed as his coat with dirty-blond hair, a surprisingly small nose, and a small, pointy beard as dirty-blond as his hair. Although his hat is not very large, it is usually tipped forward so as to hide the top-half of his features without fully covering his beetle-black eyes. (But this is his how he looks only when he’s not disguising himself).

Personality: Although he is a selfish, greedy thief who acts outside of the law, he’s not really that bad of a guy. True he would love to con you out of all your possessions given the chance, but he still has some morels. He is a thief, not a killer or a soldier, who takes what he wants, but also gives back to those in true need. Again, he’s a sleazy criminal whom you probably wouldn’t want to invite to your anniversary, but he’s still good where it counts… usually…

Special Talents: Being a conman, Ibaki is not only gifted in the art of public speaking, but also has the unique ability to disguise himself as anyone he wants. Be it a beggar, a soldier, a grandfather, or even a woman; Ibaki can play the part of anyone. And it’s all thanks to his miracle invention “Molding Putty,” a clay-like substance that, when molded by an artist, will harden into any shape and actually feels like real skin!

Goal: To steal money and die a wealthy man.

“And I now pronounce you Avatar and wife. Ou may kiss the bride.”

“… Sokka.” said Katara, inclining her head to look up at her brother who had begun making kissy-noises with his lips puckered. “You honestly expect me to kiss that thing?”

“Oh come o~on! I worked all day on him.” Sokka whined, indicating the snowman-like stack of pillows standing next to Katara. Supposedly he had constructed pillow-man in likeness to one of Aang’s famous victory poses, like the one’s he’d done for the scultures after Zuko’s speech (though the ‘likeness’ was barley present). In fact if it wasn’t for the blue triange-ish shape atop pillow-man’s head, Katata would’ve thought it looked more like a bearpig than her husband to be; there was no way she was gonna kiss that!

“… Yeah, the effort really shows.”

“Heh, I know right! I- heeey…” Sokka grumbled, the shoulder pads on his black suit slouching as he caught the sarcasm in his sister’s voice; over these past few years, she had become quite good at dishing out sarcastic remarks. Much to our would-be comedian’s dismay.

“Well I think it looks just like Aang.” Piped in a cheery voice as Suki’s head appeared from a large canvases, her golden-brown eyes reflecting the oranges and yellows of the sunset outside. Lean and muscular, it was rather odd to see her simply sitting down with a paintbrush instead of jumping about with her warrior’s fan.
Suki was a Kyoshi warrior, an all women fighting force from the island of Kyoshi who specialize in both stealth and speed. Both she and Sokka had arrived on Kyoshi island along with Aang many years ago where they had first met Suki and the other warriors. Katara smiled as she remembered how Sokka had been beaten not only once but three times by this band of beauties until finally, out of desperation, he dressed up as one of them, hoping to learn their techniques. Katarra could barley suppress a snort as Sokka turned to his wife with a classic Sokka grin.

“There ya see. At least someone around here appreciates art when they see it!” he cried turning back to wager an accusing finger at Katara while, behind her husband’s back, Suki made a gagging motion by pointing to her throat. That did it. Katara could no longer hold it in and burst into laughter. Sweet and musical, her laugh chimed like a chorus of triangles as Suki joined in as well, leaving Sokka to blink in confusion.

“…Girls.” Sokka grumbled, throwing his hands in the air as he left to go find some meat. Watching her brother’s ponytail- excuse me ‘warrior’s wolftail’- disappear around the corner, Katara finally managed to collect herself long enough to see Suki dip her paintbrush in colored ink.

“You know, now that I think about it, Sokka’s idea wasn’t that bad.” Suki said as she held back a smile. “After all I need practice for the real event, you don’t you lay one right on your sweetie-pie.”

Katara wrinkled her nose and cringed. “I would if that were my husband and not some deformed pillow.”

“C’mon, at least pose like you’re going to.”

“No.”

“C’mon.”

“No.”

“Ple~ase…” she begged, making puppydog eyes at her friend who couldn’t help but chuckle at this warrior’s ‘battle strategy.’

“Tell you what, why don’t you come over and kiss pillow-face and I’ll do the painting.” Katara shot back, giving her friend a half-smile which Suki returned.

“Alright then.” She agreed with a wink and hopped gracefully to her feet. Once dressed in an all green battle kimono, Suki now bore a tunic of bright orange and gold as she stepped into view. Moving from behind the painting, Katara could see the elegant folds of her dress, flowing in waves around the curvature of her stomach’s small bulge.

Katara smiled. “How’s the baby coming?”

“Great.” Suki replied, placing a hand atop her small bump with a loving smile. “The doctor say’s he’ll be due in a few months now.”

“He?”

Suki’s smile broadened. “Well, Sokka thinks the baby will be a girl.. but I know he’ll be a boy.” She said, looking up to gaze out the window at the setting sun. Such a beautiful sight, blinding rays of orange, red, and gold seeming to branch out from the earth like spirits ascending to the heavens.

It had been five years. Five long and glorious years since the Great War had ended, five long years of happiness. For the first time in 100 years, people could go outside without fear of attack, families were brought back together, and piece had spread throughout the land. In those rays of the setting sun, Katara could see just how different the world appeared to be. There was no smoke, no rains of fire, and no Fire Lord. The world had healed in these past five years, mending old ties and starting new relations. A new world was born, breathing new life into the land and its inhabitants.

“It’s beautiful.” Katara choked, a lump suddenly forming in her throat as she felt her eyes begin to sting.

“Yeah… it really is.” Suki agreed, a thoughtful look coming into her eyes as they reflected the gold of the sun. “It’s almost hard to believe… just five years ago this could all have been a charred wasteland… but look at it now…”

Katara did look, and this time she didn’t hold back. Hot rears tricked down her cheek as a radiant smile broke across her face. It almost felt like a dream, one that she hoped never to wake from.

BONG… BONG

“Yikes! Already!?” Suki squeaked as both girls turned to hear the gong signal the beginning of the ceremony.

“We’d better get going.” Katara said, whipping the tears from her eyes as she gave Suki another smile. “Wouldn’t want to be late for my own wedding.”

-----

“Aang, hoora oop!” Sokka called through a mouthful of deerpig meat as he continued to quickly load up his plate. “It’s about to start.”

Aang didn’t reply. His legs crossed and his eyes closed, the young Avatar was deep in meditation. This was it, he had faced monsters, battled, spirits, and defeated the Fire Lord, but today he was about to face the greatest challenge of his life. He was as excited as he was terrified, but his teachings as a monk taught him not to let himself be ruled by his emotions. To clear his thoughts, Aang had decided to meditate until it was time.
“Aang, let’s go.”

It wasn’t time yet.

“Aang.”

Nope, not yet.

“Aang!”

He wasn’t ready! Not yet!

“Earth to-”

“OK! OK!!” Aang bellowed, snapping out of his chance as he whirled to face Sokka. “I get it alright.”

“.. Hey alright…” Sokka mumbled, turning nervously back to his plate of food and Aang felt ashamed of his outburst.

“… Sokka, I’m sorry,” he said after taking a collective breath, “it’s just that… this is so strange. I mean I’m a monk! I swore I’d never be- I mean I’d never do- I mean…” Aang sighed, placing a hand to his temples. “I don’t know what I mean…” It was true, monks never had wives or any other sentimental attachments that would otherwise cloud their judgment. Monks needed to be selfless (and this was anything but selfless…)

So lost was Aang in theses thoughts that he didn’t immediately realize what he was hearing until he looked up to see Sokka laughing. “You.. you think this is strange?” she chortled, whipping his eyes as he set his mountainous plate on the table. “You? The Avatar who’s traveled to the Spirit World and back and battled some of the baddest baddies out there.. is freaking out over a wedding!?” This was too much for him as he doubled over, clutching his side in an effort to contain the gales of laughter that came rushing out.

Aang watched his friend, anger bubbling in the pit of his stomach as he was mocked but slowly found that a smile was spreading across his face as well. Aang shook his head; Sokka was right, he’d dealt with much worse than a simple social gathering though his adventures as the avatar. Still, even as he began to join Sokka’s spastic laugh, Aang still felt a slight twinge of unease.

“I know it’s stupid, worrying like this just before my own wedding.. but… I just can’t help but wonder.. what Gyatso think if he could see me now… see what I’m about to do…” Aang trailed off, recoiling the wise face of his old master Monk Gyatso. He had been the wises of the Air Nomads and had treated Aang like his own son… what would Gyatso say if he saw Aang break one of their sacred vows?

“…Aang.” Sokka said, all comedy leaving his eyes as he placed a comforting hand on his friend’s shoulder. “I won’t pretend to know how your life was with the monks or who Gyatso really was.. but from what you’ve told us about him, I think he would want you to be happy; wouldn’t he?” Sokka continued, turning Aang around so that they were now eyelevel. In a way, it was strange to see his friend this way; not long ago Aang had barley come up to his shoulder yet now here they stood, face to face as equals. He’d grown up.

“Yeah.. I suppose so.” Aang muttered, for a moment looking like the vulnerable 13 year old he had once been.

Sokka smiled. “Besides you’re the Avatar, if anyone deserves this moment, you do. And you love my sister, right?”

“More than anything!” Aang replied without a moments hesitation and that seemed to finalize the matter.

“Then what’re ya still doin’ here Twinkle-Toes?” laughed a grough voice as a fist appeared out from behind him Aang and slammed into his shoulder. With a surprised and equally pained “YOW!” Aang spun around to find the fourth member of their gang. “Still as jumpy as ever I see.” Toph laughed, faking another punch as Aang flinched back. “Relax airhead, I just came to make sure you didn’t chicken out.. good thing I did too.”
“I wasn’t chickening out!” Aang protested, rubbing the spot where he’d been struck as he took in the full appearance of his former earthbending teacher. Like Aang, she had grown taller over the years though still remained the shortest of the bunch, with short dark hair that was pulled back in a bun, all except the front which fell over her dull-grey eyes. And though she wore her traditional clothing stile as a commoner, there was something a bit different about her attire.

“Hey! Isn’t that Kuei’s old hat?” inquired Sokka as he pointed at the tall, chef-like cone atop Toph’s head which looked identical to the bear-loving bespectacled Earth King Kuei’s own tall cap.

“I think you mean my old hat now.” Toph proclaimed as she held up the many rings fitted onto her fingers. “You guys are lookin’ at the new Earth King of Ba Sing Se.”

“WHAAAAT!?!” Sokka cried, his eyes as wide as his meat plate as his mouth dropped to the floor. Tough only laughed.

“Wait.. Earth King?” Aang asked as the initial shock began to wear off. “Don’t you mean Earth Queenyourmajest?” Aang quickly added as he fully realized what Toph had said.

Toph rolled her eyes. “Oh please, don’t you start groveling ‘you majesty’ on me too. I get enough of that back home.” She groaned, fixing Aang with a pleading look. “We’re still friends aren’t we? Friends don’t have to be so formal with eachother; even with this crown.. I’m still me. Right?”

“Of course you’re still you Toph.” Sokka proclaimed as he came over to wrap an arm around her shoulder. “Even under that crown and fancy jewelry, you’ll still be that bare-footed, loud, gross, and overall immature little tomboy we all know and love.”

Aang winced, sure that Toph was about to send him flying across the room via a patch of earth, but to his surprise, Toph began to giggle.

“Thanks Sokka.” She laughed, leaning forward to kiss him on the cheek only to find he was no longer by her side.

“Alright, now to get back to- MY MEAT!!!” Sokka cried as they all turned back to see where Sokka’s mountain of food had once been now sat an empty plate save for very round, very happy looking lemur. “MOMO!!!!” Roared Sokka as he dove for the fattened creature who jumped in fright in time to doge his outstretched hands. Now thoroughly spooked, Momo waddled off as fast as his little legs could carry him while dreading his bloated stomach upon the floor. “Eat my meat will you!!” Sokka roared as she chassed after the poor lemur. “How ‘bout I cook you into a monkey stew!! Give me back my meat!!” they heard him shout, his voice growing fainter as he disappeared into the room beyond.

Toph and Aang merely had merely stood there as this entire display had developed, too shocked by the sudden randomness to do more than blink. But now, as Sokka’s voice daied off into the distance, the two of them looked at each other and burst out laughing.

“Oh man! I haven’t seen anything that stupid since Bumi tried to order an egg salad!” Toph chortled, slapping her knees as tried to regain herself. “And look, he’s still chasing him!” Toph roared as she pointed towards a solid wall.

“Aaah.. right.” Aang muttered, still chuckling as he saw nothing but the wall.

“Oh right sorry, I forgot you can’t see.” She apologized to Aang which was quite ironic seeing how she was the blind one, but the simple fact was that she wasn’t blind, not really. Although she couldn’t see with her eyes, Toph had the unique ability to see the world through her earthbending, feeling the vibrations in the floor to judge objects and their distance. In a strange way, she could see better than most people ever could. “Here let me describe it for you: Sokka just hoped of a bench where some old couple were sitting, Suki just did a face-palm, and Momo just wedged himself under Zuko’s chair-”

“Zuko’s here!?” Aang cried in surprise, cutting Toph off. Toph rolled her eyes again.

“Of course dummy! Not only is he your friend but you’re the Avatar.” She said, turning back around to look him in the eye. “The leader of every nation is here, Me, Zuko, Bumi, the other Earth Kings, and Katara’s grandfather and the other Tribe Chiefs. Everyone’s here.” She concluded, waving a hand to the large archway that separated the two of them from the rest of the audience. Aang snuck a peek and found what she said was true, the ruler of literally every city had come to their hero’s wedding… all except…
“Hey.. you OK Aang?” Toph asked as she saw the look of sadness upon his face.

“Yeah… fine,” Aang assured her, “It’s just.. looking at the rulers of all these nations.. everyone except my own people…” he trailed off, unsure of exactly what to say, luckily he didn’t have to say anymore.

“You wish you could see your folks out there too.. to share the special moment…” Toph finished, recalling how she’d wished the very same of her own parents when she used to be the Blind Bandit.

“I guess.. It’s just so weird not seeing the four council members among them. Or even the Head Monk.” Aang confessed with a small sad sigh; as honored as he was to see so many important people together just for him, he just wished he could’ve seen his elder’s faces one last time.

“But the Head Monk is here.” Toph cut in, catching Aang so off guard that he nearly fell flat on his face.

“WHA-!? Wherewhere!!” he cried, so disorientated that, for a moment, he childishly thought that one of the monks really had survived and was sitting in the audience alongside the other Nation’s rulers.

“Ung… Twinkle-Toes sometimes you really are as thick as a bolder.” Toph sighed and turned him around to face here. “I was talking about you.”

“… M… Me???” Aang repeated, too stunned to come up with a proper response.

Again Toph rolled her eyes. “Yes you. I mean who else is better qualified for the job?” she asked as she began counting off your fingers. “You’re an airbender, you were trained as a monk, saved thousands of lives, defended the earth, and defeated one of the worlds largest dickheads!” she concluded with a crooked smile, “If that doesn’t qualify you for Head Monk than I don’t know what will.”

She was serious. Him. The Head Monk. Him? Aang thought back to how calm and compost Monk Gyatso and the other council members had been, how wise the all seemed.. and she thought that he could measure up to that! He wasn’t even close to the man that Gyatso had been, true he had saved the world from an endless dictatorship but that was the the accomplishments of a warrior, not a monk. He was still having trouble accepting that he was the Avatar and now he was supposed to be the Head Monk too!?

Aang was about to protest when the gong once again resonated though the hallways to alert everyone that the ceremony would begin shortly.

“Woop! That’s our cue.” Toph commented as the two of them were brought back to the reality of the moment. “Well.. good luck Twinkle-Toes.” Toph encouraged, once again slugging him hard on the shoulder in her classic display of affection.

Ack!.. Yeah, thanks Toph,” Aang chuckled with a weak smile as he began rubbing the now bruised area on his shoulder. “I’ll defiantly need it.”

“Indeed you will…” called a new voice, one that Aang hadn’t heard in nearly five years as a ghostly image came into being.

“A-Avatar Roku!” Aang exclaimed, all thoughts of the Air Nomads fleeing his mind as a mixture of joy and confusion surged through him. This was quite understandable considering the last time the two had seen each other, Ozai had been about to harness the power of Sozen’s Comet, burn down the entire Earth Kingdom, and relatively take over the entire world (you know, good times). Still, Aang had never known the previous Avatar to appear without reason. “What is it?”

“Hm? ‘You talking to me?” Toph demanded, reminding Aang that he wasn’t alone. It then accured to him that, unlike Katara and Sokka, Toph had never seen him interact with another spirit.

“O-oh, ah, no. No I was just, uh, thinking out loud.” he said, poorly trying to cover up his conversation with seemingly thin air. Toph didn’t buy it (he didn’y buy it much himself either). “Look, ah, why don’t you go on ahead and I’ll be right there. I just gotta… gotta tie my shoe.” Aang tried, looking down at his feet and winced as she saw that both shoes were tied in perfect bows, though this hardly mattered since Toph couldn’t see them anyway. Aang could still she still didn’t buy it but Toph only shrugged.

“Well… good luck with that too.” She muttered with a small chuckle and a shake of the head before disappearing into the opened chamber. Once Aang was sure she was gone and the two of them were alone, the young man took a collective breath and turned to face his deceased mentor.
“Soooo.. I don’t suppose you’re hear to congratulate me?” Aang asked hopefully though he knew otherwise even before the previous Avarat shook his head.

“No, as happy as I am to see you growing as a man, I’m afraid that this is now a pleasurable visit.” The ghostly image of Avarat Roku stated in the echoy voice all spirits used as he descended down to stand in front of Aang. “I come to you with a warning.”

“A warning.” Aang repeated, his suspicions coming to life before his eyes. “A warning of what? Did something happen? Did you find Azula?”

“Aang, calm down.” Roku said slowly, holding up his hands as he saw Aang’s pulse begin to quicken. “It’s nothing like that, though Azula still has not been found she is not our main concern. Nor is anything else for that matter.” The old man stated while Aang just blinked in utter bewilderment.

“But- But you said-”

“I said I came with a warning, not of the present, but of things yet to come.” The old Avatar clarified as Aang began to relax; so he had come to deliver some sort of prophecy?

“OK.. so what’s to come?” Aang asked, a fair question given the Surcomestance as the old ghost sighed.

“Please listen very carefully to what I’m about to tell you, you may not like it, but you must head my warning at all costs!” he said and held up his had before Aang could speak again. “Promis me you will do everything within your power to act upon what I am about to tell you.”

“I… I will.” Aang agreed, rather skeptically as Roku let out a small breath.

“Very well then: It starts at the point where Azula administered that fatal blow which disrupted your chakra flow.” Roku began, holding up another hand as Aang began to open his mouth. “Let me finish first: As you are well aware, when your chakra flows were blocked you were no longer able to enter the Avatar State, but what you may not have realized is that this also cut of my influence from you as well.” he said as the scenery flashed back to the time where Aang had first woken up after being stuck by lightning and ran away from his friends. There Roku had appeared as well, informing Aang of his rlations to Ozai and how the war had started. “Even though I was still able to communicate with you, my spirit’s influence was cut off from yours. Before I could sense the direction your future was headed, before there was no doubt that your future was as bright as could be.”

“Wait what are you saying? ‘As bright as could be?’” Aang asked as he looked into those old, transparent eyes. “Are you saying that my future isn’t bright anymore?”

“No!” Roku assured him. “No, you future was still bright. However,” here he paused, as if choosing his words carefully, “before our disconnect I saw everything as clear as the sunlight on water.. but once our connection was reestablished in your final conflict with Ozai, I began to realize that something had changed. Where before my feeling of the future was clear, after or reconnection I felt as though there was a smudge upon the lenses. A certain.. unsettling feeling in the back of my mind.” Roku said as he looked down at Aang with sorrowful eyes. “At first I merely discarded the feeling; you had just defeated the Fire Lord and all was well in the world. I dismissed the feeling as merely my imagination, but steadily the feeling grew stronger as the years passed. It grew to the point that I knew I could no longer ignore it and sought the Old One’s advice.”

“Old One?” Aang repeated, his skepticism gradually beginning replaced by concern as he heard Roku’s tale.

“Yes, “Roku continued, “The Old One, one of the oldest in the Spirit World and gifted in foresight. What he informed me was my worst fear.. that a new evil would one day soon strike upon the four nations. A new evil darker than anything I have ever know before.”

Now Aang was beginning to sweat. A new evil? Darker than anything he could ever known before. “Who.. Who is it?” Aang tentatively asked. “What do you see.. what happens that’s so terrible.”

“I.. I don’t know…” the old Avatar said, his becoming, if it were possible, even more sorrowful. “And that’s the worst of it, I have no idea of who- or what- it is, where it will strike, or even when it will strike; all I know is that it is coming. It will strike… unless you alter the course of your path.” He said, holding up his hand again before Aang could ask any questions. “I don’t know why or how, but this dark smudge exists and will come into being because of one event.”

One event? All this talk of doom and gloom was going to happen all because of one event? How was this possible? And more importantly how could it be stopped. “What.. What do I need to do?” Aang asked, all thought of his wedding temporarily forgotten in light of this new threat. “Is there something I can do to stop it? Roku I need to know!”

“Yes!” Avatar Roku said with excitement as though this was exactly the reaction he was hoping for. “Even though the Old One refused to give me any details on how or way, the one thing he told me was how to stop this from happening.” Roku claimed as both his ghostly hands gripped Aang’s shoulders.
“Aang, I know this will be hard to accept but it must be done! To prevent this great evil from rising.. You must not wed Katara.”

“… Wh… What!?” Aang gasped, his face slowly developing from utter shock, to disbelief, to a rising anger. “What do you mean!!!”

“Aang, listen to me!” Roku pleaded, feeling that he was loosing Aang. “I know this isn’t easy to accept, but if marry Katara that dark smudge will become a permanent stain upon not only your future, but the future of the world.”

The future of the world was in jeopardy because he was going to marry Katara!? This didn’t make any sense? How could gloom and doom spawn from something as joyous as a wedding? Shouldn’t his marriage help bring happiness to the world.

HOW!?!” Aang demanded. “This doesn’t make any sense, what does me marrying Katara have anything to do with a ‘rising evil’ in some far off time and place!?!”

“Aang I don’t know!!” Ruko shouted back, loosing himself as he desperately tried to make Aang understand. “All I know is that the dark cloud is the clearest focus when you’re with Katara. There is darkness in her future!” Roku claimed, sounding for all he tried like a cheesy fortune teller as Aang threw up his hands
“Oh great, that’s helpful! ‘A dark cloud surrounds he future-’ You can’t even tell me how or when this is going to happen!” Aang shouted back as, in the other room, the orchestra began to play Here Comes the Bride. “This is ridiculous! How do you even know that ‘feeling’ is even accurate!?”

“Because Aang!” Roku cried in desperation, “Because I know that every relationship between an Avatar and his beloved will always end in tragedy! You’ve spoken to Avatar Kuruk! You know what became of his wife!!” Roku roared, referring to the spirit that had stolen the face of his wife Ummi and whom Aang had almost lost his own face on his travels to the Spirit world. “And you know what happened to my wife. Ta Min was stolen from my best friend who became the monster that annihilated the Air Nomads.” He saind and was pleased to see that this seemed to strike home with Aang who gradually began to deflate. “There has never been a successful bonding for the Avatar.”

To this Aang remained silent, not saying a word as the melody of Here Comes the Bride resonated through the entire conduct. He looked out to the audience as the music continued to play, to everyone he had come to know and love, and to the woman who had begun walking down the long hallway. She turned about, looking left and right in confusion as Aang caught sight of his wife to be. How radiant she looked, her dark skin seeming to glow gold against the color of the setting sun behind her. Her dark, wavy hair, her sapphire-blue eyes, her full red lips, everything about her was perfect. Everything about her was beautiful… and she was searching for him.

“… Well you know what Roku,” Aang said as Katara’s eyes finally met his in a look that said “What are you doing there!?” and he turned to look back at Roku, “I’ll do everything in my power.. to make sure I’m the first Avatar to do so.”

“Aang! Don’t do this!!” Roku cried in panic as he tried to follow Aang out into the room but found that the outline of his body had begun to fade along with the sun. “It is the Avatar’s duty to maintain balance in the world; if you do this then you go against everything the Avatar stands for and the dark cloud will come into being!” he called in one final attempt as Aang momentarily paused before turning back to Face Roku one last time.

“I’m sorry Roku, but I’m not about the best day of my life be ruined by some weather forecast.” He said and gave one of his classic boyish smiles. “Besides, how could anything possibly be worse than the reign of Fire Lord Ozai?” and with that Aang turned around and rushed to catch up with his wife to be. Watching Aang run off in the last few rays of sunlight, the old Avatar bowed his head in defeat.

“My dear boy,” he sighed as his entire body began to dissolve away, “you have no idea how worse the world can become…”

The snow rained down from the heavens, blanketing the land in an endless sea of white. Though the storm had already blown them by, there was no telling when it might pick up again.

Airan shivered as a gust of wind lifted his thick poncho, temporarily expose his scrawny arms and legs as he gazed out from the base of their campsite.

Southwest Post- Unit 5 of the Resistance Group.. or at least that was their cover. The real Unit 5 was sent to some other post in the outer colonies (he’d forgotten which one exactly, but hopefully it was far away from them). Teeth chattering, the young boy thought back to the Intel that he had been given weeks ago, about the violent storms…This was defiantly it, he could feel it in the air.

“‘Ey! Airan! ‘E~ey!” called a familiar voice as a dark skinned man covered in furs hopped awkwardly over to him. “Damn.. these boots are a pain..” he grumbled, pulling his snowshoe up, digging up about a foot of snow before placing it back down and lifting the other foot.

“.. I told you to stay with the rest of the camp, Lee.” Airan stated, his voice sounding flat and expressiounless (though this was only because he was trying his best to keep his teeth from chattering as opposed to sounding intimidating).

The boy called Lee sighed. “Yeah, and that was 10 minutes ago, just what are you doing out here Airan?”

“Nothing that concerns you.” He snapped, hoping by sounding rude that Lee would go back to the camp.. but no such luck.

“Really now?” Lee inquired, knowing Airan too well that he only acted that way when he wanted to get rid of someone (mainly Lee). “As I recall I’m second in command here and I think it’s my business to-“

“I think this is the place.” Airan admitted, cutting into Lee’s speech as the taller boys’ eyebrows disappeared into his hood.

“You think.. here? You’re sure.”

“Pretty sure” Airan confermed, “but I needed to come out just to be sure.”

“…And?”

“… Nothing.” Airan finally admitted. “Nothing yet.”

“.. Airan…” Lee began and was about to place a hand on the smaller boy’s shoulder when he suddenly whipped around.

“And I’ve told you before not to call me Airan! When we’re out o the battlefield you are to call me either Commander or Sir.” The boy said as another gust swept through the air and caused Airan’s teeth to chatter. “Y-You k-k-know what w-would h-happen if they f-f-found out y-you and I w-w-were-”

“OK OK, I get it.” Lee cut in, walking over to the small boy and put his arm around him. “Now let’s just go back before you freeze your little toes off.”

Airan opened his mouth to argue but found he had no valid excuse for staying out there any longer and reluctantly agreed. Bowing their heads, the two of them fought against the onslaught of snow as they made their way back to the underground military base.

“… Would you like a cup of hot chocho when we get back, sir?”

“… Shut up…”

(Well, for those of you who are posting here, I guess this leaves you with 3 options: 1) start off your character in the Outpost Base 2) Your character is wondering out in the snow (for whatever reason) or 3) You wait to introduce your character after they get out of the Military base. So, take your pick and let's go :moogle: !)

Around the base, in the frozen wastes was nothing expect snow, snow and more snow. What the average eye - or even the well trained eye for that matter - couldn't see were the people under the snow. About a quarter mile away from the base, two people were laying in the snow, scouting the area for anything.

"Why did we have to be put here for?" whined one of the people, a male. "And while wearing these thin robes?"

"Quit your griping Rei. At least you're getting out for a mission," said another male voice. "You're first in awhile, might I add."

The first male just rolled his eyes. "Yeah, whatever..."

(hope it's alraight if I play as one of your men).

Laying in the snow alongside Rei and his other fellow men, the lump that was the man’s head turned to the side as he pressed his ear to the partially frozen earth. A few long seconds ticked by until finally the man lifted his hand a fraction of an inch above the snow and began making signs to the others. ’12 kilometers earthward’… ‘100 men plus’… ‘machinery’…”

(Perfectly fine. Be kinda boring if I played a legion of ninjas by myself)

"Finally, something's happening," Rei whispered to himself.

"Friend or foe?" signed the man next to Rei to the original signer.

The man paused, thinking how best to answer when he finally just shrugged.

“That’s helpful..” another ninja grumbled under his breath but was quickly silenced by another as the signing ninja suddenly began signing like crazy! ‘Two men’ ‘one tall’ ‘one small’ ‘coming close’ ‘silence!’

-----

“.. –ould you at least tell me what it said?”

“That’s none of your concern.”

“C’mo~on, she as my geat granda’s war buddy! Can’t I see what her daughter has to-”

“No!” the two men argued, or rather one man pleaded while the other flat out refused as they made their way back to base. “Especially not out here.”

“Why-“

“You of all people know why.” The shorter man hissed as he sweeped the area. “You never know who may be listening.. especially in this weather…”

As if understanding, the taller man nodded and the two of them continued on.

Rei bowed his head in annoyance while the man next to him disappeared back into the snow. "Are you kidding? They're just guys heading back into the base," mumbled Rei.

"We don't know that entirely," whispered the man. "I'll follow for a bit and if something happens, we'll know about and have several guys on it."

The silent ninja nodded in agreement, signaling a brief command for them to stay hidden as he turned back to the man who had spoken and signaled for him to leads the way.

-----

Lee and Airan continued walking for a solid ten minutes when they finaly found what they were looking for. There, barley visible under the 5 feet or so of snow was what appeared to be thin bar of twisted metal. With a quick look around them (which didn’t really do much since they couldn’t see an inch in front of their faces anyway), Lee reached forward and pulled on the metal bar. He pulled it once, twice, then twice more very quickly and stood back.

“Open sesame^^!” Le called, raising his in the air as though commanding an army to rise from the snow. Nothing happened. At least not at first, but slowly the earth in front of them began to move, shifting apart to reveal a natural crater in the ground. “Er.. After you.” Lee offered to which Airan scoffed.

“A little early on the magic there.”

“Hey c’mon! It would’ve worked if those stupid earthbenders would stop lazing about and do their job Evil or Very Mad !” Lee whined, following after his commander as they both entered the opened cater.

The silent ninja turned away, embarrassed for making such a novice mistake. But his embarrassment was short lived as there came a dull “thunk” and, next moment, an arrow was struck threw his ribs. An ice arrow!

-----

“C’mon, lighten up!” Lee said as he slapped Airan on the back. The boy shot him a dirty look.

“Know your place Lee, I am your superior here on the battlefield.”

“Sheesh, chill.” He grumbled, then realizing he had unintentionally made a joke began to laugh. Airan just shook his head, tearing his gave from his companion to the underground base they had entered. It was an amazing construction! Carved by earthbenders into large catacombs and reinforced by hardened lava made by water and firebenders. They acted as insulators, preventing the biting chill from entering while keeping the warmth of the internal flames in. To think, barley fifty years ago the world had been thrown into chaos as all four nations were at each others throats, now all the nations had banded together to create this magnificent underground base. They’d had to…

“How are our friends outside?” Airan asked, walking towards the control station where several men dressed in Earth Kingdom attire.

“No new yet sir.” The man in front reported, holding up a device that looked to be a slab of metal with a small lever that ended in a needle-like point. “but they’re scheduled to report within the next couple of minutes.

(Special note: the device that he is holding is a special metal box called a TAP that acts almost exactly like those tap-boxes they use for morse code. However, while those are powered by electricity, these are powered by earthbending. Each tap sends a vibration through the earth which can then be received and repeated by another TAP. Those on the receiving end of the TAP decode the message from the various taps and thush they can communicate from long distances almost simultaneously).

"Great," muttered the man. He jumped into the cold white blanket of snow. Any normal person would've just landed on the snow, but he was quietly and swiftly traveling under it. "We just blew our position. Everyone, scatter."

Without a reply, the ninja started to move around as the first man did, though it was hard to tell in the storm.

"Rei, get in the base. Warn them about intruders," said the man when he returned.

"What? I wanna stay here and fight," Rei whined. but the man gave him a stern look. "Oh fine. Don't blame me if you die or get caught."

“Good, send me a signal when-” but at that moment everyone in the base fell off balance as the earth gave a mighty quake.

Surprised Whoa! What’s happening!?” Lee cried as he nearly fell over a passing soldier.

“Contact our outside forces and find out what’s going on!!” Airan shouted to the monitors who nodded and sent a signal through their TAP to the ninjas outside.

"That isn't news," said Rei as he traveled with a group of others. "Are there any earth benders searching for a cause of the quake?"

"Someone is on it as we speak," replied another ninja.

"Great," mumbled Rei, "This rumbling must be apart of the enemies plan..."
