Pooka
A type of fairie that feature greatly in Changeling (the white wolf game), are actually based on existing folklore. An Irish goblin (in the fairy sense, not in the short green and ugly sense) called a Phooka was said to take on many beast-like forms. It would always have jet black hair and blazing eyes. This creature was said to be especially fond of taking the form of long-haired ponies, and would roam the roads, looking to take advantage of weary travelers. It would offer them the prospect of a gentle ride, but take them on a violent and and buffeting chase before throwing them off; laughing and prancing into the distance.
